Taxidermy is Forbidden
Question :
What is the Islamic ruling on stuffing animals and birds? Does doing so fall under the ruling of statues?
Answer:
The Committe for Scientific Researches and Religious Verdicts has been asked this question, and every member agrees that this practice is forbidden for two or more reasons:
1) It is a futile practice that involves wasting money.
2) People may be led to hang images similar to it, other types of stuffed animals, or become confused by them saying that this is a stuffed animal, it is not a picture, leading to an increase in images and statues. Therefore, we hold the view that taxidermy is not allowed.
