I Work as a Photographer


Question :

I work in a government department; my job is to take pictures with a camera on special occasions. I know that taking pictures of people is unlawful, so please advise me what to do so that I can stay away from everything that makes Allah Almighty angry. May Allah preserve you and guide you to all that is good.


Answer:

Making or taking a picture of a human or an animal is unlawful, regardless whether it is a photograph, a drawing, stitching, a carving, or a sculpture; and regardless of whether it has a three-dimensional shape or a two-dimensional shape. There are many Hadiths that prohibit the making of pictures.

May Allah send peace and blessing on our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
