Hitting Female Students


Question :

What is the ruling on hitting female students as a means of disciplining?


Answer:

It is good for a teacher to be gentle with younger and older students alike. Nevertheless, if the situation calls for a severe reprimand, then lightly hitting a student is allowed. Foolish minds are seldom moved by exhortation or entreaties; in such cases severity may be a better approach than gentleness.
