He Stole But Then Repented
Question :
When I was fourteen years old, my father's friend visited us from abroad. I used to steal some of the foreign currency from him, and then I would go to the bank, convert the money, and spend it. When I grew up, though, I regretted having done that, and I determined that I should repent. But what should I do? Must I return the money to him, considering that he is still alive, or can I merely give the money to charity on his behalf?
Answer:
You must return the money to him, using any means necessary. And guidance lies with Allah Almighty.
