✨The Ability of Allah

Allah Almighty alone is perfect and has the most beautiful names and lofty attributes. And Allah is exalted above having equals, partners or rivals. And His messenger ﷺ was the most knowledgeable of people about Allah and the most conscious of Him.

So be conscious of Allah Almighty and obey Him. Be conscious of the One Who has the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what they contain and is over all things able. And His ability is above every ability. And His strength overcomes every strength. He showed us the wonders and evidence of His power in what he created and decreed. He created the heavens and the earth, then He said to them:
Fussilat (41) 11: Come willingly or by compulsion. They said, We have come willingly.

His ability is not subject to what humans know of the laws of the universe and life. For His power is beyond these laws. And who placed these laws in the universe but Him the Most Exalted ?! And the laws of the universe dictate that everything that is built must have pillars so that it does not fall. And Allah Almighty:
Ar Ra’d (13) 2: Raised the heavens without pillars that you [can] see;

Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: That they are raised without pillars as you see. And this is the utmost perfection in ability. As Allah Almighty said:
Al Hajj (22) 65: And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission.

And raising the sky and what it contains of stars, planets, orbits, sun, moon and clouds is from the biggest proofs of the ability of the Creator Most Exalted.

And on earth, there are creatures and wonders that fascinate the minds and captivate the souls. Allah said:
Ad Dhariyat (51) 20: And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith].

On the earth are signs indicating the greatness of their Creator and his amazing ability, in which He created many types of flora, fauna, mountains, plains, rivers, oceans and dispersed creatures throughout. Allah said:
As-Shuraa (42) 29: And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent.

And through His ability, He varied these creatures. Allah said:
An Noor (24) 45: Allah has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

Among the evidences of His ability, the Most High, is that water descends from the sky, and He settled it on the earth. And if He wanted He would have taken it away. Allah said:
Al Mu’minun (23)18-19: (18) And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. (19) And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.

He, the Almighty, with His power and wisdom, made water the source of life for the earth and what it contains. Whatever has water lives and whatever does not dies. And just as He gives life to the earth through water, He is able to resurrect the creation even if the deniers deny and the stubborn oppose. Allah said:
Fussilat (41) 39: And of His signs is that you see the earth stilled, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and grows. Indeed, He who has given it life is the Giver of Life to the dead. Indeed, He is over all things competent.

The polytheists and atheists deny this and they do not believe in His ability to give life to the dead and to resurrect the creation. And they do not consider His ability in creating the heavens and the earth which is more significant than creating mankind. Allah said:
Al Ahqaf (46) 33: Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent.

Is not the One Who created the first time able to return them again?! Is not His ability apparent to those who reason as He created mankind from clay, and from a despicable fluid, and from clay from an altered mud, and made him from a clot that has no value? Yes, indeed our Lord is over all things able. Allah said:
Al Qiyamah (75) 36-40: (36) Does man think that he will be left neglected? (37) Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted? (38) Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him] (39) And made of him two mates, the male and the female. (40) Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?

And the creation of man, and his journey through life, with a beginning and an end, and with weakness and strength are all proofs of the ability of the Creator Most Exalted. He made the fetus in its mother’s womb in stages in which it grows bit by bit until it is given permission to exit to this world in a weak state. Then he becomes strong and then he weakens again until he passes. Indeed it is a lesson and it is proof of His ability. Allah said:
Ar Room (30) 54: Allah is the one who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness and white hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Competent.

He gave mankind a mind and the ability to reason. And made creation subservient to him. And Allah commanded man to carry the trust and establish the religion for His sake. So some believed while others rejected.

And Allah Almighty informed us that He aids the faithful and destroys the insolent. Who drowned pharaoh and his troops? Who sent the furious wind against the people of Aad? And Who seized the people of Thamud with the shriek? And Who caused the earth to swallow Qarun and his home? Indeed it is Allah Almighty who is over all things able.

The Almighty has warned us against insolence and disobedience, and made clear to us the consequences of that, and set forth examples of those before us. And He clarified that He is over all things able. The Almighty said of the deniers:
Al Mominoon (23) 95: And indeed, We are Able to show you what We have promised them.

And the Almighty said regarding the hypocrites:
Al Baqarah (2) 20: And if Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

He – the Most High – warned us against not supporting the religion, regardless of the consequences and sacrifices. And if we are negligent, He is able to replace us with those better than us:
An Nisa (4) 133: If He wills, He can do away with you, O people, and bring others [in your place]. And ever is Allah competent to do that.

And whatever we do of acts of obedience, it benefits us and does not benefit Allah Almighty. And whatever we commit of acts of disobedience harms us, and does not harm Allah Almighty at all.

And none of creation possesses benefit or harm. Rather, that is in the Hands of Allah Almighty. Allah said:
Al Anam 17-18: (17) And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good – then He is over all things competent. (18) And He is the subjugator over His servants. And He is the Wise, the Aware.

Humans witness the power of Allah Almighty in annihilation and torment, and are helpless against it, despite all of their advancements. Allah Almighty commands the wind, and it will destroy what it has been commanded. Trees are uprooted, homes are demolished, and whomever Allah Almighty wills perishes and humans are defenseless. And floods come by the command of Allah Almighty and drown cities and those in them. And earthquakes are another sign of His power, by which Allah, the Most High, flattens cities in less than a second. So where is the strength and ability of humans, and where are their studies and research? And their discoveries and inventions? Can they defend or prevent against His torment or obstruct His power?! Rather, whatever Allah wills is and whatever He does not will, is not. And He is over all things able. Allah said:
At Talaq (65) 12: It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. [His] command descends among them so you may know that Allah is over all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.
