Zakat the Companion of Salat

Zakat the Companion of Salat

A great obligation and pillar of Islam. With it the punishment is repelled and grace is brought. It is proof of the genuineness of faith. A reason for growing the blessing and not decreasing. It is the Zakat the companion of the prayer. Allah Almighty says:
Al Baqarah (2) 43: And establish prayer and give zakāh

And Ibn Omar (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
Islam is built on five (pillars): Testimony that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, establishing Salah, giving Zakah, Hajj, and fasting Ramadan. [al-Bukhari 8 and Muslim 16b]

And the Zakat is one of the most important reasons for success in this world and the hereafter. Allah said:
Al Mu’minon (23) 1-4: (1) Certainly will the believers have succeeded: (2) They who are during their prayer humbly intent (3) And they who turn away from ill speech (4) And they who are observant of zakāh

And is among the greatest reasons for entering paradise. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Direct me to a deed by which I may be entitled to enter Jannah.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Worship Allah, and never associate anything with Him, establish Salat, pay the Zakat which has been enjoined upon you, and observe fasting of Ramadan.” He (the bedouin) said: “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I will never add anything to these (obligations).” When he turned his back, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who wants to see a man from the dwellers of Jannah, let him look at him (bedouin).” [al-Bukhari 1397 and Muslim 14b]

And it is a cleaning from disobediences and sins. And a testominal of purity in the worldly life and the hereafter. And a cleansing of wealth. And a reason for increasing and blessing of wealth. Allah Almighty said:
At-Tawbah (9) 103: Take, [O Muḥammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah’s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

And the Zakat is a means of protecting communities from corruption and moral crimes that are born from poverty, want and need. And in it the consolidation of the pillars of love, affection, and closeness within the Muslim community. Similar to a building whose components reinforce one another.

All wealth on which Zakat is not paid is a hoarded treasure. The Barakah (blessing) is removed and its goodness and reward is prevented. And it will be a burden on its owner in this world and the hereafter. The Almighty said:
At-Tawbah (9) 35: The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, [it will be said], “This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard.”

And Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah said:
If Allah gives a person wealth and he does not pay Zakah on it, his wealth will appear to him on the Day of Resurrection as a bald-headed venomous snake with two dots above its eyes. It will take hold of the corners of his mouth on the Day of Resurrection and will say: ‘I am your wealth, I am your hoarded treasure.’ The he recited this verse: (Al Imran (3) 180 )And let not those who [greedily] withhold what Allah has given them of His bounty ever think that it is better for them. Rather, it is worse for them. Their necks will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection. [al-Bukhari 4565]

Oh Muslims: Be conscious of Allah Almighty and know that Ramadan is a month of righteousness, kindness, consolation, mercy, spending and charity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was most generous in Ramadan. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us all to take the path of our Prophet ﷺand to be described with the trait of beneficence and generosity in the month of giving. By paying charity and zakat to those who deserve it. Whether the Muslim gives it himself or through official organizations that are certified to collect zakat and donations. And great caution against giving to unknown and questionable parties that are widely found on social media.

Allah Almighty said:
Al Muzzamil (73) 20: And establish prayer and give zakāh and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
