The Ruling on Using Alcohol With Medicine


Question :

Sometimes alcohol is added during the process of making some medicines and drugs. If it is confirmed that alcohol has been added in the process of making certain medicine, is it permissible to use it if it is described as aThe Book of Legal Punishments treatment for a certain illness?


Answer:

If the amount of alcohol mixed with the medicine is little and it is essential in order to preserve the substance, then it is permissible to use the medicine with it. But if it is a lot and it is not essential, then it is not permissible, no matter what the treatment is.
