Standing up when sending Salutations of Peace upon the Prophet

Standing up when sending Salutations of Peace upon the Prophet

Question :

Did the Companions forbid people from standing when sending salutations of peace upon the Prophet?

Answer:

It was never a practice of the Companions to stand when they sent salutations of peace upon the Prophet neither when visiting his grave, nor at any other time. Nor was it their custom to betake themselves to his grave for the purpose of sending salutations of peace upon him. Whenever they entered the Prophet's Mosque, they would stand by it in order to send salutations upon him, although it has been authentically reported from Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that when he returned from a journey, he would enter the Prophet's Mosque and once he had prayed, he would go to the grave of the Prophet and send salutations of peace upon him. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and Companions.
