Qualities of the Prophet (SAW)

Qualities of the Prophet (SAW)

Allah the Exalted uplifted the heart of the Prophet ﷺ , removed his burden and raised his ﷺ mention. The Prophet ﷺ was of the highest character and was the most altruistic. He ﷺ was the bravest and was the most forbearing in the face of adversities and maltreatment.

And his ﷺ character was the Quran. His conduct was according to its teachings and he was quick to act on what it encouraged. He ﷺ was the best of souls and the most forgiving. He did not face people with things that they disliked.

He spent time with the disadvantaged and visited them and their sick. And checked up on his companions. And he was not too proud to accompany the poor, widow and servant; fulfilling their needs.

He was the most just and was most abundant in clemency. He was the most pardoning and was the humblest of all. He was the most confident without a trace of arrogance. And he was the most eloquent without wordiness. And he was the most positive and nothing from this worldly life bothered him. And he honored the generous and embraced the honorable. And was kind to his relatives and neighbors. And he accepted apologies. And he joked but only said the truth. He remembered Allah much and turned away from vain talk.

He never took revenge for his own sake unless Allah’s limits were transgressed.

Whenever he ﷺ was given a choice, he would choose the easiest provided it involved no sin; if it did, he would be the farthest from it.

He was the most persevering and the most soft-natured. He was the most faithful in fulfilling covenants and the most truthful in speech. He was the most noble in companionship. Whoever saw him, revered him and whoever interacted with him, loved him. And he directed that no one should tell him something negative about another companion since he wished to meet them all with an open heart.

And he promoted, boosted and encouraged good. And he condemned, dissuaded and repelled evil.

He was the most radiant member of a group. He was gentle in his dealings and easygoing and was neither cruel nor harsh. He did not berate anyone nor did he seek out their faults. When he spoke those sitting with him listened so attentively as if they had birds on their heads. And if he stopped, only then did they speak. And whenever he would send someone for a matter, he would say:
Convey glad tidings and do not repel. Make things easy and do not make them difficult. [Sahih Muslim 1732]

He milked his goat and served himself. His favorite meal was when there were many people to share with.

He did not hold on to what he received even if it was plentiful. His home, clothes and food were basic to meet his essential needs and he would forsake anything beyond that.

And he was neither known to err or slip. And his gatherings were full of good, compassion, modesty and trust. And he continued on the highest road of manners and far reaching wisdom as he established the religion and abolished idolatry and falsehood. And he united previously hostile people removed the enmity and grudges from their hearts. And he spread noble character, beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. And he was a bearer of glad tidings and a warner and invited to Allah, by His permission, and was an illuminating lamp. Through him, Allah completed and perfected the religion. And through him, Allah completed his favor upon the believers.

Oh Muslims: Allah the Exalted favored the believers when He sent among them a messenger ﷺ, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they had been before in clear error. Allah the Exalted sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all other religions. Allah the Exalted took an oath in His Noble book that His messenger ﷺ is an excellent standard of character. And His prophet fulfilled the servitude to Him in the most perfect and complete fashion until he departed ﷺ this world.

So have consciousness of Allah and emulate the perfect and complete character of His prophet. And familiarize yourself with his ﷺ life and outstanding characteristics that Allah instilled in him ﷺ. And follow his exemplary way, his lofty attributes and noble qualities. Through this your Iman (faith) will increase, your character will be purified and your deeds will be polished.

At-Tawbah 128: There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.

May Allah bestow upon us the love of His prophetﷺ and the appreciation of his ﷺ great station. And guide us to live our lives in accordance with his ﷺ sunnah and cause us to die following his ﷺ way and resurrect us in his ﷺ group.
