Delaying the Dowry is Permissible


Question :

Is it permissible to delay (payment of the dowry) in marriage or not?


Answer:

It is permissible to delay a part of the dowry for some benefit, whether it is a little or a lot, and it is permissible to fix the period of time during which the husband must pay. And if it is not defined, then it must be paid if divorce or death (of the husband) occurs (i.e., from his estate).
